New Year, New Blooms: Setting My Flower Farming Goals for 2025

Happy New Year from Wild Willow Acres! As the calendar flips to 2025, I’m feeling energized and inspired by all the exciting possibilities this year holds. Our growing space has doubled in size, and I can’t wait to share my flower farming journey with you. With more blooms, more markets, and even flower subscriptions in the mix, there’s so much to look forward to!

You might have noticed a little change around here—new year, new name. After much thought, I decided to switch from ‘Petals and Vines’ to Wild Willow Acres. The original name served it's purpose, to get me through year 1, but I knew I wanted something that felt more connected to the land and would keep inspiring me. The willows surrounding the farm, the pond nearby, and the wild beauty of this space, now it feels right. I love how “Wild Willow Acres” captures the heart of what I do—bringing a little of nature’s magic into every bloom I grow.

Growing the Dream: Doubling the Garden

When I say the garden has doubled in size, I mean double the space for growing, dreaming, and creating! Again this year, I’ll be refining what grows best for me. Some blooms have been showstoppers, while others have struggled. I've removed some a few of the flowers grown in 2024 for next year, but I've also added in a ton more to try! By focusing on flowers that thrive in my soil and climate, I can simplify the growing process and ensure every stem is a beauty. I’m also diving deeper into perennials. Peonies, lupins, and delphiniums are just a few of the long-lasting favorites I’m adding to the mix. These timeless blooms not only add structure to the garden but also bring endless joy to my bouquets.

Find my Flowers in 2025

One of my biggest goals this year is launching flower subscriptions. Imagine fresh, locally grown bouquets on your kitchen table, brightening your home. Subscriptions are perfect for anyone who loves having a little extra magic in their day, and they make wonderful gifts! If you’re local to the Bruno, SK area or just outside Saskatoon, keep an eye out! I’ll be at more markets this year, including the Prairie Flower Market. Connecting with you at these events is one of my favorite parts of flower farming. Dried bouquets have also been a perfect fit for my schedule, especially since I’m still working full-time off the farm. They’ll continue to be available throughout the winter, and I’m planning to dry even more flowers over the summer. I’ll be experimenting with different ways to display them, so stay tuned for some fun and creative options!

A Year for Community

While Wild Willow Acres isn’t open to visitors, I’m planning a special event for Wild Willow Connection subscribers. Think of it as an intimate evening filled with flowers, fun, and connection. It’s a chance to gather, share stories, and soak in the beauty of the blooms together. I'm still dreaming about what this looks like so stay tuned for details. I’m also thrilled to announce that my calendar has filled up with weddings for 2025. Being part of someone’s special day is such a privilege, and I love creating bespoke arrangements that add magic to life’s most memorable moments.

Personal Goals: Cultivating Strength

Last year was a whirlwind as I focused on getting the farm off the ground, but I realized my personal health took a bit of a backseat. While flower farming is no doubt a workout (seriously, try hauling buckets of anything, weeding or digging for hours!), I miss the intentional movement that used to be a big part of my life. This year, I’m committed to finding a balance—getting back to the gym, building strength, and honoring my body while growing this dream. After all, strong roots are the foundation for growth, whether in flowers or in life.

Cheers to 2025!

The year ahead is full of opportunities to bloom—both for Wild Willow Acres and for me personally. From flower subscriptions to expanding the garden, there’s so much to be excited about. Thank you for being part of this journey. Your support means the world, and I can’t wait to see where this year takes us! Here’s to growth, connection, and a season filled with beauty. Stay tuned for updates, and don’t forget to follow along on Instagram and Facebook, and subscribe to my newsletter to watch the magic unfold!

Until the willows sway again,

Kaeley
